Voters Card Validation Portal

The voters card validation portal is a portal by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for all Nigerians to check validate information regarding the Voters Card ahead of an election.

On the portal, you can check your voting status. You can check the validity of your voters card if it is valid or not. You can also check the location of your polling unit using the Polling Unit Locator.

You can access the voters card validation portal by following the link https://voters.inecnigeria.org

Once you open the page, the first text you’ll see is Welcome to the Voter Verification Service. You can check your voter status by entering your details in the form on this page.

How to check if your voters card is valid

On the voters card validation portal, there are two ways you can check if your voters card is valid or not. You can check if your voters card is valid using your VIN, which is short for Voters Identification Number, or you can check with your personal details which includes your name and date of birth.

Using your name and date of birth to check if your voters card is valid

To check if your voters card is valid using only your name and date of birth, follow these steps below.

Open the voters card validation portal on a browser. You can click the link https://cvr.inecnigeria.org/vvs to quickly access it.
On the webpage, the drop-down form, Check Status Using Your Name & Date of Birth, should be opened. If it is not opened (i.e there is a blue + sign on the left side of the form option) click on it to fully expand the form.
Under State of Registration, click on choose state and select your state. If you did transfer of location to another state, select the state where you transferred to.
Click on choose Local Government under Local Government of Registration and select the local government area where you did your voters card registration. If you did transfer of location to another local government area, select the local government area where you transferred to.
Enter your last name in the space for Last Name. This is your surname or family name.
Enter your first name in the space for First Name. Your first name is your own name.
Enter your date of birth by selecting the corresponding day, month and year.
Finally, click on the Security Check checkbox and pass the recaptcha challenge.
Now click on the green Check Status button.

If your voters card is valid, your name, Voter Identification Number, State, Local Government Area, Registration Area (Ward), Polling Unit and Polling Unit Code will be displayed in a table on the next screen. Congratulations!

You can always get directions to your polling unit ahead of time by clicking on the get directions button at the bottom of the above details, this will open the location on the map on your mobile phone.

On the other hand, if your voters card is not valid, the following information will be displayed on your screen –

Voter Not Found. The details provided was not found in the Register. Please check that you chose the right state, and your VIN and Last Name or Date of Birth are provided correctly and try again.

Using your VIN to check if your voters card is valid

To check if your voters card is valid using only your VIN, follow these steps.

Go to the voters card validation portal on a browser. You can click the link https://cvr.inecnigeria.org/vvs to quickly access it.
On the webpage, scroll down the page and click on the + sign besides Check Status Using VIN, to open the form.
Under State of Registration, click on choose state and select your state. If you did transfer of location to another state, select the state where you transferred to.
Click on choose Local Government under Local Government of Registration and select the local government area where you did your voters card registration. If you did transfer of location to another local government area, select the local government area where you transferred to.
Enter your last name in the space for Last Name. This is your surname or family name.
Now enter your full VIN or the last 5 digits of your VIN.
Finally, click on the Security Check checkbox besides I am not a robot and pass the recaptcha challenge.
Click on the green Check Status button to check you voters card validity.
